Bron
Nicholls was born in Melbourne in 1944. After the war, her demobbed
father took his family to an isolated region on the Broken Creek in
Northern Victoria. Bron’s passion for books and writing began in that
lonely, vast, fascinating bushland. Over the years, Bron has been a
nurse, art teacher, English as a second language teacher, children’s
book illustrator and tutor in Drama and Television at Rusden State
College, Victoria.
Now in her sixties, she still regards writing as her main job. Her books before An Imaginary Mother are:
Move! (Heinemann, 1974) Three Way Street (Penguin, 1982) Mullaway (Penguin, 1986)—made into the film Mull (1988) Three Way Street (Random House, 1993) Reasons of the Heart (Penguin, 1994) Zeno’s Paradise (Bruce Sims Books, 2000)
